Armand Verdier

Armand Verdier began training at age 15 in Normandy, before studying at École Boulle in Paris. During this time, he gained experience in the UK, working at Buckinghamshire New University and alongside leading traditional upholsterer Angela Burgin.

After completing his diploma in France, Armand returned to the UK, spending four years with Angela Burgin Furnishing & Design Ltd, working on high-end interiors and pieces for historic properties including Lydiard House.

In 2007, he returned to France, working with respected ateliers including Les Tentures, specialising in luxury upholstery and fabric walling for the hotel industry. He later gained international experience as a workshop manager in Myanmar.

Now based in Buckinghamshire, Armand runs his own workshop, producing work for antique dealers, interior designers and private clients. Known internationally for his precision and refined execution, he has also been teaching French traditional upholstery internationally since 2013 and is one of the very few practitioners offering this specialist training in the UK.

In 2023, Armand was awarded the Master Upholders Certificate by the Worshipful Company of Upholders in recognition of his craftsmanship and contribution to the trade.
