StJohn has been teaching for over 20 years and building things out of wood for a lot longer! With his wife Bryony he runs The Quiet Workshop near Cambridge building chairs and teaching chairmaking and seat weaving. He makes a range of chairs in traditional and modern styles using a variety of domestic hardwoods and seat materials including river rush and Danish cord.

He is frequently asked to reseat and restore heirloom chairs which has given him a lot of experience of different weaves and chair construction. He is a regular instructor at the St.Albans Upholstery School.
